Tim Shea
Tim Shea, who spent 12 years as an assistant and head coach at Woodland Regional before stepping down following the 2013 season, was announced as Plainville’s head coach in a school press release and on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
Shea had spent the last two seasons coaching at Post University’s sprint football program. He takes over for Chris Farrell, who had resigned earlier this season for as of yet unknown reasons.
Shea takes over a Plainville program that was strong the 1930s, 40s and 50s, but has only qualified for the CIAC state playoffs twice in its history, in 1997 and 2010.
The Blue Devils were 4-6 last year. Their last winning season was a 6-5 mark in 2014.

Shea coached at Milford Academy, Naugatuck and Foran before joining Chris Anderson’s new program at Woodland. He was the Hawks’ defensive coordinator during the team’s back-to-back Class SS state championships in 2004 and 2005.

He took over the program for the 2008 season following Anderson’s first resignation and coached the Hawks to a 44-25 record over six seasons, culminating in a Class S runner-up finish in 2013. Overall, Woodland won three NVL Copper Division titles and reached the playoffs three times under Shea.
Shea resigned after the 2013 season and served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Post.
