Girls Swimming: Woodland wins title, Seymour takes second in NVL Championship

WATERBURY — For the second straight year the Seymour girls swimming team finished second at the NVL championships.

The Wildcats finished with 780 points, just 11 points behind champion Woodland (791).

Seymour’s three first-place finishes all set school records: the 200 medley relay team of Hannah Tricarico, Olivia Velleco, Sierra Cripps and Stephanie Tabaka (1:54.91), Cripps in the 50 freestyle (24.56) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Cripps, Ania Mrozik, Velleco and Tricarico (3:44.86).

Oxford placed fourth in the team competition with 584 points. Emily Darroch led the Wolverines, finishing second in the 500 freestyle (5:32.10), third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.16) and swimming on Oxford’s second place 400 freestyle relay and third place 200 freestyle relay.
